Simple Instructions

Installation: If you have no other plugins

These are simple instructions for those new to the patch and haven't added plugins to their PSP before.  If you have no idea what PSP plugins are or what "seplugins" is, this guide is for you!
  1. Check your ISO size is exactly 1,207,140,352 bytes.  You can do this on Windows by right-clicking the ISO and selecting Properties.
    • Note that if it isn't you may continue but we will not be to help you if any problems occur -- the patch is only for unmodified ISOs!
  2. Download one of the two following files, depending on whether or not you have a PSP Go or any other model:
  3. Connect your PSP (or plug in your memory stick) to your computer.
  4. Optional but highly recommended if you have one:
Back up your game save!  Go into PSP/SAVEDATA and copy the ULJM05800 folder to your computer.

  5. Unzip the entire contents of the archive you just downloaded to the root of your PSP's storage.
    • The root of the storage is the very first thing you see when you access it on your computer. On Windows it's a drive letter, like D:\, E:\ etc.
  6. Download the latest version of the patch, contained in an archive.
  7. Unzip this archive (which contains MHP3RD_DATA.bin) into the seplugins/mhp3rd_loader/ folder.  You want it so that mhp3patch.prx and MHP3RD_DATA.bin in the mhp3rd_loader folder.
Do not try and extract MHP3RD_DATA.bin!  Just put it on the PSP with the plugin.
  8. Switch the PSP off by holding the power slider/button, then switch it back on again.
  9. Boot MHP3rd.
That's it!  If all has gone well, you'll see something like this for a couple of seconds when you start the game:

Updating the Patch
When you want to update the patch just follow steps 4 to 7 above.

  3. Hey guys I'm using a PSP 2,000 with 5,50 gen-D3 CFW. I followed all the steps and whenever I try to get it to load all I get is "The game could not be started. (8002014)" My recovery settings are 1.50 kernel and no UMD M.33 I'll keep playing with this but if anyone is familiar with this and knows how to fix it then it would be incredibly helpful.

  8. I did all the steps and when I try to load up the game it just restarts my PSP. I have LCFW 6.60LME because my psp is "unhackable" but the plugin shows up in the menu of the LCFW so I'm not exactly sure WHAT the problem is.

    1. I strongly recommend that you update to 6.20PRO-Cf3 (found here - http://code.google.com/p/procfw/downloads/detail?name=620PRO-C.fix3.rar ) since TN-A is so outdated and TotalNoob no longer supports it (he doesn't develop for the PSP at all anymore... T_T )

If you need any help installing it (it's very simple, just follow the readme) feel free to message me on http://wololo.net/talk/index.php I'm a Moderator there and my name is Disturbed0ne. I can help you with pretty much anything concerning the PSP.

    1. Did you format the memory stick? If you didn't and you made your own ISO file in the root, from my personal experience, that doesn't work, you have to use the file made for you when you format the memory stick.

  31. Hi! I followed all the steps and installed correctly the SEPLUGINS folder and then the patch, but the game still runs in Japanese :(. I am using a PSP2000 with 6.60 ProB10. The ISO size is exactly 1,207,140,352 bytes, just the name of it is different to the one in the image. Any advice would be appeciated. Thanks!

  32. Followed all the steps as everyone else is saying. Exact same ISO size but no message or translation. PSP1000 with 6.60 ProB10. What do you mean by boot the game? Does that mean start it up after you restart your psp? If you didn't then that would be why.

  33. My words are not enough to say how thankful I am for the on-going patch releases that you guys make on a semi-regular basis...thank you and more power to you.

As for your question...I was trying to find a credible source of monster hunter portable 3rd patch last year and I found your blog...thanks to that monster hunter became the new lunch room game in my animation school :P we usually play in groups during lunch time (2 teams of 4 people ;) )

  48. I have a 6.60 pro b10, now my question is: I have updated it but system info says 6.60 not 6.60 pro b10 unless I run CFW. It also comes with a fast recovery which I have no idea what it is. But, I followed the steps but I cannot find any .ISO file. I have downloaded the untouched hard copy but there's nothing in it's contents that says Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.iso

    Can anyone help me?
